Congo (DRC) has rich mineral processing resources. The following is the distribution of the main mineral processing resources:
Gold mines
Placerous gold mines: Mainly distributed in Manima Province, North Kivu Province and South Kivu Province in the northeast and east of Congo (DRC), divided into residual type and alluvial type.
Greenstone belt gold mines: The eastern Twangiza-Namoya gold belt mainly includes four deposits, Kamituga, Lugushwa, Namoya and Twangiza, which are part of the Kibara belt; the northeastern Kilo-Moto gold belt can be divided into the Kilo gold belt and the Moto gold belt. The ore-bearing surrounding rocks are mainly volcanic sedimentary conglomerates, basic rocks and banded ferrosilicon formation rocks in the greenstone belt.
Copper mines
Mainly concentrated in the southern Katanga Province, the region has large copper reserves and high grades, and is an important copper mining area in Congo (DRC). For example, the Kolwezi copper belt is one of the most important copper belts in Africa, containing a large amount of high-grade copper ore.
Cobalt Ore
Katanga Province is also an important cobalt production area. Cobalt ore is usually associated with copper ore. Cobalt ore resources can be recovered while mining copper ore.
Cobalt ore is also distributed in some areas of Upper Lomami Province. With the advancement of exploration and development work, the importance of cobalt ore resources in this area is becoming increasingly prominent.
Tin Ore
It is mainly distributed in the Kibara belt in the east and can be divided into the following three types:
Plagiar tin ore: mostly distributed in the alluvial layers of rivers and lakes, formed by hydraulic deposition, and is more common in North Kivu Province and South Kivu Province.
Pegmatite tin ore: mainly formed near the inner and outer contact zones of granite and siliceous-aluminous rocks, and the ore minerals are mainly cassiterite.
Quartz vein tin ore: the ore body is produced near the inner and outer contact zones of granite and siliceous-aluminous rocks, and the ore minerals are mainly cassiterite.
Niobium-tantalite ore
Pegmatite-type niobium-tantalite ore: Mineralization is related to the intrusion of G4 granite and its subsequent crystallization of pegmatites. Representative deposits include the Manono-Kitotolo lithium-tin-niobium-tantalite deposit. Niobium-tantalite minerals are mainly columbite, tantalite and manganese-tantalite series.
Pyrochlore-type niobium-tantalite ore: Mainly distributed in the Lueshe area of North Kivu, the ore-bearing rock body is nepheline syenite-carbonatite intruding quartzite and mica schist.
Other minerals
Iron ore: It is distributed in South Kivu Province, Katanga Province and the central region. Some of these areas have large iron ore reserves and have certain development potential.
Diamonds: Diamond mines are distributed in South Kivu Province, Kasai Oriental Province, Kasai Occidental Province and other regions. The diamond production of Congo (DRC) occupies an important position in the world.
Lithium ore: Mainly distributed in Manono-Kitotolo and other regions. With the development of new energy industry, lithium ore resources in Congo (DRC) have also received more and more attention.
