Combined Process for Tin Ore Dressing
Tin ore can be divided into two categories: placer and vein. Due to the high density of tin ore, gravity separation is often used for roughing, but because there are many elements that need to be comprehensively recovered, a combined process is generally used.
a Placer

Sand ore is divided into alluvial placer and residual slope placer. The roughing of alluvial placer usually uses gravity separation process, and jigging shaker, cone concentrator, spiral concentrator, etc. are commonly used. The combined process to be used depends on the properties of the useful minerals to be recovered; for residual slope placer tin ore, washing-screening-gravity separation combined process is often used, and the medium ore is sent to smelting for further processing.
b Vein ore
Vein ore is divided into cassiterite oxide ore and cassiterite sulfide ore. Cassiterite oxide ore is often associated with a variety of valuable elements. Generally, mud and sand separation is carried out to produce a variety of tin products (i.e. qualified tin concentrate, rich medium ore or low-grade tin concentrate and poor medium ore). Rich medium ore (containing Sn4%~5%) is sent to fuming furnace for treatment, and poor medium ore is sent to high-temperature chlorination volatilization to comprehensively recover valuable elements. The combined selection and smelting process can increase the comprehensive recovery rate by 5%. Cassiterite sulfide ore can be discarded with heavy media in advance, and then mud and sand separation is carried out: the ore sand part is suitable for gravity separation because cassiterite is suitable for gravity separation, and the sulfide minerals are suitable for flotation. The ore mud part can be used for gravity separation or flotation: usually gravity separation-flotation-gravity separation-flotation combined process is used.
