A jig machine for barite separation is a gravity - based mineral processing device that sorts barite from gangue by leveraging their density difference in vertical pulsating water flow, widely used in roughing, cleaning, and scavenging of barite with high recovery and concentration ratios.
Core Working Principle
Stratification by Density: Barite (specific gravity 4.3–4.7) has a much higher density than common gangue (e.g., quartz, clay, specific gravity 2.6–2.8). In the vertical alternating water flow generated by the jig's pulsating mechanism (diaphragm, piston, or hydraulic drive), barite settles faster to the lower layer of the jig bed, while gangue floats in the upper layer.
Pulsation & Separation: The saw - tooth pulsation curve (slow upward flow, rapid downward flow) is optimal for barite. Upward flow fluidizes the bed to loosen particles; downward flow accelerates heavy barite to settle into the concentrate layer, and light gangue is flushed out as tailings.
Collection: Concentrate is discharged through the bottom or side of the jig chamber, and tailings overflow from the weir plate.
