Mongolia has rich gold placer resources. The following is an introduction to its relevant situation:
Reserves and distribution: Mongolia has discovered more than 300 gold mines, including 51 gold placers. Mongolian gold placers are mainly distributed in the North Kent Gold Belt and other areas, with a gold placer reserve of 83.1t. In addition, gold placers are also distributed in grasslands and other areas about 35 kilometers north of Ulaanbaatar. In 2013, 5 tons of gold placers were dug out of this area alone.
Main deposits: Humul is a relatively important gold placer deposit in Mongolia, with a gold reserve of 41.3t and a grade of 0.469g/m³.
Production share: Mongolia's gold mines include five types: vein type, disseminated type, skarn type, porphyry type (associated gold) and placer. Gold placers are the most important. Currently, about one-tenth of gold production comes from gold placers.
Mining situation: Mongolian gold placer mining has both legal and illegal mining.
